We have been Called to Be a Light

It was the beginning of spring, women from different countries with God’s springs in their steps gathered together in Lyon to attend the 4th Annual Lifespring’s Women’s Ministries in May 2010.

The three days in Lyon were simply amazing and affirming of how God’s Love is transforming, how it unites and what joy and love can be shared among Christians.

Through the retreat, I saw God’s love and gospel in practical demonstration as God’s light took over the entire programme and God’s love was present in the worship, Bible messages, the singing, the small group meetings, the eating and drinking and in the giving and sharing.

The main speaker came prepared to encourage, to challenge and to speak to the women about God’s ever present help in our lives. Faith in God, Hope in God and Trust in God were clearly demonstrated in the lives of the three Bible characters of David, Daniel and Elijah used in the teachings.

I was reminded that our God is a God of again and again. If God worked in the lives of these wonderful men because they embraced, acknowledged, submitted and believed in God’s unfailing love and power, God can do it again if we are willing to yield to his calling, ready to stand, have faith, and depend on his power and guiding Light.

The following words from the speaker really spoke to me in new ways about how God sees us and is ready to work and move in our lives when we are prepared to examine my Christian living and truly make a stand for Christ:

  1. God is ready to teach us through the power of his Holy spirit but we need to be open to receive.
  2. We are serving a God of openness.
  3. Learning is key in our walk with God—we need to learn God’s wisdom.
  4. Discipline is important in order to grow in our walk with God.
  5. UNSHAKEABLE FAITH is needed even in those times when we are asking—God where are you?
  6. Think about God at all times instead of the bad things people have done to you—dwell on the positive.
  7. Allow God to shape you and point others to Jesus.
  8. Be contagious for Christ—be the best for Christ.
  9. Give yourself affirming positive new names—representing WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST.
  10. Be the Salt and Light—keep your reputation firm.
  11. Choose to believe—listen to the truth.
  12. BE THE JESUS with the skin on.

Indeed ALL the miracles start when we make a STAND for Christ!
